I mentioned last week in my career and life update that I’m going to New York next month. I wanted to go into further detail about that trip and what I need from you, my readers and friends. I’ve been to New York a handful of times in my life, almost always for something touristy: as a child in 1999, as a teenager in 2003, as a college student in 2008 and as a travel blogger in 2010.
But this trip is totally different. It’s the first in a long time that has had absolutely nothing to do with being a writer or travel blogger. I’ve worked for the same company at a seasonal job here in Atlanta for seven years. In that time I’ve worked for the same brand, a home furnishings company out of California. I’ve come to know their products so well that they decided to send me and my sister to work their show in New York.
I leave August 14 and return August 22 with only a day or two to actually explore the city. Most of the time I will be in the convention center, setting up, unpacking and repacking. But that’s where you come in. Since I have so little time to “see the sights,” I want to spend time doing more local activities. I want to (try) to catch up with some old friends, see the High Line and eat some noodles in Chinatown. Apart from that, I’m open to suggestions! I’ve started a Wanderlist on AFAR.com that you can see below.
