I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine! As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading
This was a good month for reading for me, in part thanks to some travel time with little else to do. I read Where’d You Go, Bernadette? in the matter of a weekend because it was that good. I wished the ending had more to it, but otherwise, the way the story was told was unique and captivating.
I’m currently halfway through Lucky, the memoir of novelist Alice Sebold about her rape as a college student. It’s a difficult read, but important in this age. And last night I finished The Walking Dead: Volume 5 comic, which I picked up at Walker Stalker Con. To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here.
Listening
After my trip to Muscle Shoals, I’ve become addicted to the musicians that recorded here. Some were already among my favorites, but early Rolling Stones and Aretha Franklin are my current addictions. If you haven’t seen the documentary of the same name, I highly recommend it. I’ve still been listening to my favorite podcasts, namely Undisclosed, and later this month will have the chance to go to their meetup in Atlanta!
Watching
Have you seen Pitch? I love the concept, about a female major league baseball player, but there’s so much to it beyond that. The casting is excellent and the way they jump back in points in time is great. And it addresses how women are treated differently without using that “nasty” word: feminism. I would love to see this come true one day!
Loving
I’ve got so many exciting products I’ll be featuring soon before the holidays for my annual gift guide, so stay tuned on this one! If you have something to suggest, leave them in the comments!
Working
My work for Afar has seemingly come to a close, but I’m still working for The Knot and Her Packing List every month. My content for Google Trips will soon be integrated into the app. I’ve recently found some work writing travel stories for local publications, which I’m very excited about. See what else I’m working on via my Contently profile.
Traveling
When will I learn to say no to stuff? In October, I went to North Alabama, including Muscle Shoals and Huntsville; the wine region of Lodi, California; and Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains. This weekend I’m at Universal Studios Resort with my sister Sammi and friend Liza! Yes, we’ll be wearing gear from our wizarding houses as we roam the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Share your tips with me below! Then I’m on break until December.
And to be honest, I’m disillusioned with what’s going on in the world. I’m starting to think about long-term travel again, maybe another working holiday for 2018. If you’re interested in learning more about visas, check out my Working Holiday page.
