I’ve come to look forward to these monthly posts about what I’m into beyond travel because there’s so much more to my life than where I go, despite the fact that it’s something I love. It’s funny how many people respond with their obsessions or agree with mine!

As with last month, I’m sharing the things I’m obsessed with at the moment. Thanks for following along! Be sure to share what you’re loving this month below!

Reading

I very quickly read Someday, Someday, Maybe by Lauren Graham (of Gilmore Girls fame) that I picked up at my Little Free Library. It’s about a girl struggling as an actress in New York, which has a lot of parallels with becoming a writer. I also started Burden for a story I’m working on, which is about a man that left the KKK.

To see what else I’m reading, check out my Goodreads Profile here (which is also my author page!).

Listening

Absolutely Not with Heather McMahan is one of my favorite podcasts and a recent episode with Jennifer Lawrence was great. Produced by the team behind Happy Face, Two Face follows the journey of the daughter of Diane Downs, who infamously tried to kill her children, killing one. Music fans will also enjoy Dead and Gone, which follows murders in the Grateful Dead community.

Watching

I’m still watching exclusively funny and stupid shows these days, including The Only Way is Essex on Hulu and old seasons of the Real World on CBS All Access. I’ve also watched my favorite Halloween movies, including Hocus Pocus and The Addams Family.

Loving

I bought a new phone, which was long overdue. My iPhone 6 that I bought before going to South Africa was constantly full and buggy. I swapped for an 8 Plus with a much-larger storage capacity. I no longer have to delete everything to download a new app!

Working

I’ve got a lot of work at the moment, which is great as the end of the year is usually tough. I’m writing a new series of guides for my state tourism board about how to safely travel in Georgia. I also have new stories coming soon for Roadtrippers, HowStuffWorks, and the next issue of Fifty Grande.

Traveling

Me and Dolly
Me and Dolly

After a fairly safe trip to Mississippi, I had high hopes for my time in Tennessee. While Knoxville was safe with required masks, the counties around it were not. There were no masks in restaurants, both employees and patrons. It put a bad taste in my mouth and I got tested as soon as I got home. Thankfully, it was negative.

So with that said, I am thinking about what my future travels look like. As of now, I only have a few trips. This week, I’m headed to Florida for a wedding. Then I’ll be spending two weeks in remote north Georgia for a writer’s retreat.
