Read This Blog: My Beautiful Adventures

December 7, 2010 by Caroline 6 Comments

Behind the blog: Andi Perullo, the lovely glampacker behind My Beautiful Adventures, is a Chinese medicine doctor and fellow College of Charleston alumna. I don’t remember how we stumbled upon each others’ blogs, but through countless emails we realized how much we have in common. She’s a real sweetheart, always supporting her fellow bloggers and making us jealous with her tales of sneaking into Cuba, feeling like a celebrity in India and planning her dream wedding to her sexy Argentinian fiance.

What’s in a name?: “While most adventures have trying moments, in the end each of them are simply beautiful.  Adventures enrich our lives and teach us about our true selves, since they are an undertaking usually involving unknown risks and challenges that lead to unforgettable experiences.  My life is filled with one beautiful adventure after another and I believe that blogging is the best way for me to account for them and to share them with others.”-AP

Why should you read?: “Because I have found a unique niche in the travel world!  I have a fulltime job (outside of the travel industry) that I am crazy passionate about, however I still find time to travel on a consistent basis.  Most people think, and unfortunately a lot of travel blogs promote this idea as well, that you need to choose one or the other and that is simply not true.  It is possible to find a balance and that is what people will see from reading my blog.  Plus, I hope to inspire people to make travel a priority in their lives after they read about all of my extraordinary adventures around the world.”-AP

Favorite posts:I’ve listed Andi’s faves, followed by mine.

  • “Brasil: Day 7-10”: “I love all of the posts that I wrote about my solo-trip to the Brasilian Amazon Rainforest.  They include some of the best photos I have ever taken as well.”
  • “Cuba: Day 1-4”: “ One of my favorite travel moments is celebrating my 25th Birthday in La Habana, Cuba.”
  • “India: Day 3 Part 2”: “It was difficult to articulate me feelings when I visited the Taj Mahal in Agra, India, but it was definitely an incredibly special moment for me. “
  • I love living vicariously through her Cuba posts since I won’t be able to go for a while and don’t have the balls to sneak in like she did. “Cuba: Day 5 Part 1” has some amazing photos.
  • I enjoyed reading about her brother’s graduation trip to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Ibiza. My youngest sister will be taking a graduation trip next summer and it gave me some ideas!

What are your favorite blogs to read?: “I start every morning with a cup of coffee and the NY Times, after that I make another cup of coffee and I read countless travel blogs. My current obsession (and not because she is going to be my wedding photographer) is Kyle Hepp.  She is an international wedding photographer and her photographs are each works of art. I also don’t miss posts from Neverending Voyage, A Wandering Sole, Y Travel Blog, Bacon is Magic and the Kiwi Collection blog.”-AP

Hey, I know her =)Also, can I add that it's REFRESHING to read travel blogs like Andi's that aren't RTWers? And yes, encouraging that you CAN have a full-time job and also still travel…people tend to think the two don't mix. But they can!

Aww, I love that you start your morning out with my blog. Woohoo! I'm also jealous of your Cuba trip but one of these days… I'd sneak in to the country in a heartbeat as I live for that type of thing but I just need funds and a fab travel partner for it first ;)

Haha, you are so funny, you and your fifty cups of coffee a day :) And THANK YOU for mentioning me! I love this quote from you,"Because I have found a unique niche in the travel world! I have a fulltime job (outside of the travel industry) that I am crazy passionate about, however I still find time to travel on a consistent basis. Most people think, and unfortunately a lot of travel blogs promote this idea as well, that you need to choose one or the other and that is simply not true. "SO true. I absolutely love that you can work in a job that you are completely passionate about and still find time for your other passions — travel and Lucas, obviously :)
