Travel Product I Love: Speakeasy Travel Scarves

Speakeasy

I love writing about travel products, especially between this blog and my work on Her Packing List. So when my friend Brooke sent me a Speakeasy Travel Scarf as a Christmas present, I was thrilled. My friends Beth and Randy (you may know their blog, Beers and Beans) started the company, inspired by travel goods that are both fashionable and functional.

All of their scarves come with a secret zippered pocket, ideal for stashing your passport, flask, cell phone and cash. Speakeasy uses great fabrics with unique prints in both lightweight and thicker winter scarves. I got a bright colored jersey stretch scarf that goes great with a tank top and jeans or a skirt.

I’ve worn similar scarves on previous trips, especially in Turkey and Asia. You can use it to cover your head in temples and to keep you warm in colder climates.

I loved all the fabrics they carefully selected and Brooke picked something that suited my personality: just a little bit loud. Each one is carefully stitched with love by Beth, Randy and their loved ones, complete with a special interior tag and handwritten note in each order. I love knowing that I’m supporting friends.

The scarves come in three weights, and therefore vary in what they can hold. I put in my passport on the left and wore it empty on the right. As you can see, some items work better in the scarf than others, which is the only downside to this item. It also depends on how many times you loop it. What works well is your phone, cash, lip balm and business cards. I wouldn’t pick anything much bigger.

They’ve been featured by everyone from Mashable to CNN Travel to Buzzfeed, so get your own today! Scarves start at around $50 and go up from there if you want a custom design. Purchase your own on their Etsy shop and check out what’s inspiring them on their Instagram and website.
