If you’ve been reading this site for a while, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of street art. It’s something I seek out everywhere I go and I’ve been surprised at where I’ve found it. So when I booked my trip to Tel Aviv and saw there was a street art tour, I immediately booked a spot. Best of all, it left from Abraham Hostel, where I’d been staying for the last few days.

Our guide brought us to the Florentin neighborhood, known as one of the city’s trendiest. Named for a local landowner, the formerly industrial area became a popular one for artists, drawn in for the affordable cost of living. Colorful murals cover the walls of the coffee shops, bars, and art galleries.
The city has become a haven for both Israeli and international artists, both well-known and up-and-coming. And it’s more than just murals. Stencils, tags, and three-dimensional works can be seen in the least likely of places. You just have to know where to look.
I barely set down my camera the entire tour as I eagerly snapped the colorful walls. Afterward, I went with one of the guests and tour guide to a small restaurant where I indulged in the best hummus of my life. The guide also runs vegan food tours and the pub crawl in the city. I can’t think of a better way to spend an afternoon.
